State Rep. Paul Jacobs (R-Carbondale) announced a new endorsement from the Associated Fire Fighters of Illinois in an Oct. 20 Facebook post.

"Thank you to the Associated Fire Fighters of Illinois for your endorsement," Jacobs wrote. "I am proud to support our brave firefighters."

Jacobs recently received another endorsement from fellow GOP lawmaker Rep. Blaine Wilhour (R-Beehcer City). In a statement shared by Jacobs, Wilhour said Jacobs had "a proven conservative record" and called his colleague a "dedicated public servant."

"I am proud to have the support of my good friend and fellow Southern Illinois Republican state Rep. Blaine Wilhour in my race for re-election," Jacobs said in an Oct. 9 Facebook post. "Blaine is a strong advocate for the conservative agenda, and fights to protect life, and our Second Amendment rights. Thank you Blaine."

Rep. Patrick Windhorst (R-Metropolis) also endorsed Jacobs.

“I am proud to have the endorsement of my good friend, fellow state representative, brilliant legal mind, and true public servant [in] Windhorst,” Jacobs wrote on Facebook. “Windhorst has been leading the fight against reckless anti-police policies.”

Jacobs has been in the news recently for discussing information about educational opportunities and events in Illinois.

In late September Jacobs visited Southern Illinois University and met high school students interested in automotive and aviation careers. Jacobs touted SIU's Aviation and Automotive High School introduction tour on his Facebook page.

“We [SIU] are turning out the most sought after automotive students in the USA,” Jacobs said in his post. “80% of our graduates have contracts in hand or are already hired by large automotive corporations. Aviation [High School] already is a leader in pilot instruction but cemented that distinction with a contract with United Airlines a few weeks ago to train and hire many of our aviation graduates."
