Mike Bost, the representative for Illinois' 12th Congressional District, expressed his condolences to the families affected by a fatal plane crash in Coles County and praised the first responders for their courageous assistance. He made this statement in a Facebook post.

"This morning's plane crash in Coles County is a tragedy," said Bost, U.S. Representative, according to Facebook. "Our prayers are with the families impacted and the first responders who bravely stepped up to assist."

According to Bost's post, it linked to a WAND News article detailing the plane crash that occurred on April 19 at County Road 1400 North near Trilla. The crash happened an hour after the aircraft departed from Hartford, Kentucky, resulting in the roadway being closed until 5 p.m. on April 20. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is investigating the incident. The article identified the four victims as Ross R. Nelson, Raimi A. Rundle, Courtney L. Morrow, and Michael H. Morrow, all from Menomonie, Wisconsin.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported that the Cessna C180G airplane was returning from Nashville, Tennessee when it struck power lines before crashing near Coles County Memorial Airport. A preliminary report on the incident is expected within 30 days, with a final report anticipated within 12 to 24 months.

A local resident informed ABC News that her house shook when the single-engine plane crashed. The NTSB is conducting a comprehensive investigation into the pilot's background and reviewing flight data, air traffic control communications, maintenance records, and weather reports from the time of the crash.

Bost has represented Illinois’ 12th Congressional District since January 6, 2015. As a lifelong resident of Murphysboro with deep roots in state politics, he served as House Republican Caucus Chair in the Illinois State House for two decades. Bost is also a former U.S. Marine Corps member and worked at Bost Trucking Service before joining the Murphysboro Fire Department in 1993 after completing training at the University of Illinois’ Certified Firefighter II Academy.
