A bipartisan bill that ensures American veterans will receive the same cost-of-living adjustments (COLA) that Social Security recipients get was signed into law late last month.

House Resolution 6168 was introduced by U.S. Representatives Mike Bost (R—Dist. 12), who served as Ranking Member of the Disability Assistance and Memorial Affairs Subcommittee, and Elaine Luria (D—Virginia).

Disabled veteran compensation rates will increase beginning on December 1.

“Now more than ever, it is critical that the men and women who have served our nation receive the benefits they have earned,” Bost said in an Oct. 23 press release

“Many veterans and their families depend on these benefits to pay for necessities like food and medicine. I’m proud to have helped introduce this bipartisan bill, and I am grateful that the President took this important step to provide an important cost-of-living adjustment for our veterans and their dependents," said Bost.

In additional to the cost of living adjustments provided in the compensation act, allowances will be paid for: disability, dependents, clothing and indemnity to surviving spouses.
