Analysis: Hardin County administrators rank 770th in state for average pay

Administrators in Hardin County Community Unit School District 1 earn an average of $79,632 per year, ranking 770th out of 864 districts in Illinois, according to a Southern Illinois News analysis of the latest Illinois schools report card.

The 2020 average is 29.2 percent higher than in 2016 and 6.1 percent higher than in 2011. District administrators make 28.4 percent less than the state average of $111,293.

Administrator salaries depend on the district's size, location and resources, as well as the individual's level of experience and education, according to the Illinois State Board of Education report.

The Hardin County School District in Hardin County enrolled 519 students in 2019-2020. There is an average of 196 students for every administrator, compared to a statewide ratio of 171 to 1.
