The regular meeting of the Vienna Public School District #55 Board of Education was called to order by Mrs. Sherie Smith, President, at 6:08 p.m. with the following members present.

Approve Budget

Closed Session

Motion by Betts seconded by Borders to go in to closed session at 7:03 p.m. to discuss (1) the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of employees of the District or legal counsel for the District including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee of the District or against legal counsel of the District, to determine its validity. Roll call. Voting yes: Borders, Yadloski, Hook, Smith, Betts, Johnson. Voting no: none. Motion carried.

Motion by Hook seconded by Borders to come out of closed session and return to regular open session at 7:50 p.m. Roll call. Voting yes: Borders, Yadloski, Hook, Smith, Betts, Johnson. Voting no: none. Motion carried.

Memorandums of Understanding

Motion by Betts seconded by Borders to approve a memorandum of understanding with the Vienna Grade School Education Association regarding the fall 2021 semester COVID-19 mitigation plan, as presented. Roll call. Voting yes: Borders, Yadloski, Hook, Smith, Betts, Johnson. Voting no: none. Motion carried.

Resignation

Motion by Hook seconded by Borders to accept the resignation of Amber Blaylock as needed individual aide, effective August 13, 2021. Roll call. Voting yes: Borders, Yadloski, Hook, Smith, Betts, Johnson. Voting no: none. Motion carried.

Mrs. Smith read a letter of intent to retire from Ann Taylor, nurse.

Motion by Betts seconded by Hook to accept the resignation of Ann Taylor, nurse, effective September 30, 2021. Roll call. Voting yes: Borders, Yadloski, Hook, Betts, Johnson. Voting no: none. Abstain: Smith. Motion carried.

Employment

Motion by Yadloski seconded by Betts to employ Brittany Hunt as full-time school nurse for the 2021-22 school year effective October 1, 2021. Roll call. Voting yes: Borders, Yadloski, Hook, Smith, Betts, Johnson. Voting no: none. Motion carried.

Approve PRESS Plus Policies

Motion by Betts seconded by Borders to approve PRESS Plus policy recommendations as Vienna Public School #55 Board policies, as presented. Roll call. Voting yes: Borders, Trovillion, Smith, Betts, Johnson, Hook. Voting no: none. Motion carried.

Health/Life Safety Survey

Motion by Hook seconded by Johnson to approve an amendment to the Vienna Public School #55 Health/Life Safety Survey. Roll call: Voting yes: Borders, Yadloski, Hook, Smith, Betts, Johnson. Voting no: none. Motion carried.

Approve Grant

Motion by Borders seconded by Betts to approve the FY22 ISBE Matching Maintenance grant, as presented. Roll call. Voting yes: Borders, Yadloski, Hook, Betts, Johnson. Voting no: none. Motion carried

Surplus Property

Motion by Johnson seconded by Borders to approve surplus property items on behalf of Vienna Grade School, as presented. Roll call. Voting yes: Borders, Yadloski, Hook, Smith, Betts, Hook. Voting no: none. Motion carried.

Other

The City ballpark scoreboard has been updated and VGS has paid their portion.
