Joppa-Maple Grove Community Unit School District 38 Board of Education met Aug. 24.

President Castleman called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.
Roll call: all members present (Gail Stubblefield, Peggy McNeill, Stacey Reames, Danny Burnett, Denise Meyer, Chris McGinness)
Others present: Dr. Artman and Dr. Dufour, and Lacey Wright.
Public comments: Lacey Wright spoke to the Board about her Action Research Project request.
Dr. Dufour gave principals report: Off to a great start, everything working as it should, students are happy to be back, fall sports are cancelled. Lots of support from everyone.
Dr. Artman went over all the information in her report. She explained all the startup costs, building and grounds report, the roofing projects at both schools are complete. Vaughn Roofing requested a total of $98,675.00. The maintenance project grant will be $50,000 and the district funds will pay $48,675 out of our health, life, safety funds. JAMP governing board meeting is this Thursday and Gail Stubblefield will attend. She also discussed the corporate personal property tax and the budget.
Motion by Chris and second by Denise to go into closed session for the purpose of student disciplinary case, the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the public body.
All voted yes. went into closed session at 7:29 p.m.
Resumed regular session at 8:26 p.m. Chris McGinness left the meeting. Motion by Stacey and second by Peggy to return to regular session.
