Joppa-Maple Grove District #38 Board met May 7.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

Meeting called to order by President Castleman at 6:30 p.m.

All members present. (Kevin Castleman, Gail Stubblefield, Peggy McNeil, Stacey Reames, Danny Burnett, Denise Meyer, Chris McGinness)

Others present: Dr. Artman, Sherry Godfrey, Richard Jones and Robbie Adams.

Reason for this meeting is to interview candidates for the position of Principal of the District, only had one applicant and that is Dr. Jeffery Dufour, currently holds the position as PE instructor and coach.

Motion by Chris and second by Stacey to go into closed session for the purpose of the employment, appointment, compensation or dismissal of a specific employee of the public body. 5ILCS 120/2 (c) (1) and to discuss collective negotiation matters between the District and its employees or their representatives, or deliberations concerning salary schedules for one or more classes of employees. 5ILCS 120(c)(2).

All voted yes. Went into closed session at 6:35 p.m.

Discussed questions and the ground rules for asking interview questions. Dr. Dufour was asked to join the meeting. Questions were asked by the interview committee, board members and Dr. Artman.

After the interview, the applicant left and the members discussed answers given by Dr. Dufour to the questions.

Mr. Jones, Mrs. Godfrey and Mrs. Adams left the meeting.

Motion by Stacey and second by Chris to return to open meeting, all voted yes. Returned to open meeting at 8:55 p.m.

Motion by Kevin and second by Stacey to employ Dr. Jeffery Dufour for Principal for a 3-year contract. Salary set for $62,000 base pay for the first year.

Motion by Stacey and second by Denise to adjourn.

All voted yes.

Meeting adjourned at 9:00 p.m.
