Metropolis Police Department issued the following announcement on April 14.
These are the forgotten few. They are the voice behind the radio and phone. They are expected to remain calm and professional. Whether it's an officer calling for help. A firefighter calling Mayday, an irate citizen demanding immediate action, or the frightened mother needing an ambulance for her child, our telecommunicators are always there. Thank them when you see them. They are a part of our community. Thank you, Joy Grimes, David Bowman, Cory Trovillion, and Patrick Meyer. Thank you.
