Metropolis Police Department issued the following announcement on March 17.

March 8, 2020
A Metropolis Officer observed Amanda E Ford,32, Metropolis driving a black Ford in the 800 block of E. 3rd. Ford has a suspended driver’s license. Ford was arrested and taken to the Metropolis Police Dept. for processing. Ford was able to post bond and was released.
March 10, 2020
A Metropolis Officer stopped a gold colored Toyota for speeding (58/45 mph) on US 45 at Faughn Ln. The driver, Saleh HM Alwarri,29, Carbondale, could not provide proof of insurance. The officer detected a strong odor of Cannabis. A search revealed plastic baggies containing Cannabis. Alwarri was arrested and charged with speeding, operation of an uninsured motor vehicle, and illegal transportation of Cannabis. Alwarri was transported to the Metropolis Police Dept for processing. He was released after posting bond.
March 11, 2020
Metropolis Officers were called to the 1300 block of Coburn. Witnesses observed a blue pick up truck strike some mailboxes and leave the scene. Officers responded and a witness gave a description of a blue Dodge Ram Pick-up which she followed to a residence on Girard. Investigation led to the arrest of James B Padgett,52, Metropolis. Padgett was charged with leaving the scene of an accident, DUI and Driving while license suspended. Padgett was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
March 12, 2020
Paul Peter Mayotte,26 and Diana S Whited,20, Metropolis were both arrested at a residence in the 100 block of W. 4th St. Mayotte was wanted on warrants issued by Massac County. The warrants were for Possession of a controlled substance (petition to revoke probation), theft and fleeing or eluding police. Whited was wanted on a Massac County warrant for ID Theft (petition to revoke probation). A search revealed that she had a debit card which belong to another person. She was also charged with that. Both were lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
The preceding information pertains to arrests made by the Metropolis Police Department. These arrests are made on the basis of probable cause and all arrestees are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
