February 17, 2019
A Metropolis Officer stopped a GMC pick-up truck on 12th St and US 45 for a defective headlight. A computer check on the driver, Michael A Perry,38, Metropolis revealed that his driver’s license was suspended. Perry could not provide proof of insurance. Perry was taken into custody. A search of the vehicle revealed and glass smoking pipe and a baggie containing Meth. Perry was charged with Driving while license suspended, operation of an uninsured motor vehicle, Possession of Meth and possession of drug paraphernalia. Perry was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

Justin K. Howard,39, Johnston, Il was arrested for Retail Theft. Howard was captured on video surveillance eating food and drinking a fountain drink at Big John’s. Howard left the store without paying for the items. A Metropolis Officer on patrol observed Howard walking on the street. Howard was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
A Metropolis Officer observed aa red Ford pick-up truck on 7th and Ferry St squealing its tires. A traffic stop was conducted. A computer check revealed that the driver, Ricky J. Darnell,48, Metropolis had a suspended driver’s license. Darnell was arrested and taken to the Metropolis Police Dept for processing. Darnell was able to post bond and was released.

Metropolis Police were called to the Party Hut on W. 1oth Street. The caller stated that a person was trying to cash a forged check. The Metropolis Police had been investigating forged checks there for a month. Upon arrival, Officers located Timothy T. Tyler,29, Carbondale inside the store. The Party Hut had already cashed a check for him. Tyler was observed throwing an envelope onto the ground. Inside were three checks made out to him. Jeremy L Shered,31, Carbondale was located in a vehicle in the parking lot. The Party Hut had already cashed a forged check for him. Tyler was charged with Forgery and 4 counts of possession of forged instruments. Shered was charged with Forgery. Both were lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

A 17 year old female juvenile was arrested for possession of a controlled substance (Morphine and Lortab) and possession of drug paraphernalia at a residence on Lindsey Ave. She was taken into custody and processed at the Metropolis Police Dept. She was bonded out to a grandparent who took her to the hospital for evaluation.

Metropolis Officers ere celled to the Huck’s for a theft report. The clerk stated that a subject left the store without paying for a beer. The theft was captured on video. Officers took the report and developed a suspect. Approximately 12 hours later, a Massac County Deputy observed the subject at Citgo. Metropolis Officers confronted him and recognized him from the video. David R Simmons,36, Vienna was arrested for retail theft. A search revealed a glass meth pipe in his pocket. Simmons was charged with retail theft and possession of drug paraphernalia. Simmons was taken to the Metropolis Police Dept for processing. He was able to post bond and was released.
Sara E. Cunningham, 28, Paducah, Ky was arrested in the 1400 block of W. 10th. Cunningham was wanted on warrants. Paducah, Ky had warrants for forgery and fraudulent use of credit cards. McCracken County KY had a warrant for fleeing police. She was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
Dara M. Bresster,27, Metropolis was arrested in the 100 block of W. 10th. Brewster was wanted on a warrant. The warrant was issued by Massac County for driving while license suspended. Brewster was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
Bobby W. Butterfield, 27 Metropolis was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia in the 1700 block of Filmore. Butterfield was found to be in possession of a Meth pipe. He was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
February 23, 2019
Metropolis Officers were called to a residence in the 900 block of Vienna. Upon arrival, Officers learned that Roberta L. Leek,59, Metropolis attempted to stab the victim with a knife. He was able to block the knife with a pillow. Officers observed a hole in the pillow. Leek was still armed with the knife when police arrived. Leek was charged with Domestic Battery and lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
Metropolis Officers ere called to the Superbowl bowling alley. A customer observed a female drop a clear baggie containing a pill and handed it to the clerk. Officers viewed video and recognized the subject as Lasha Q. Mounce, 28, Metropolis. Mounce was still at the bowling alley. A Metropolis Sergeant questioned her about the pill which was identified as Oxycodone. She admitted that she did not have a prescription. Mounce was arrested. A search revealed another clear wrapper containing 8 pills identified as Alprazolam, also a controlled substance. Mounce was charged with two felony counts of possession of a controlled substance. She was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

Kenneth L. Mitchell, 38, Metropolis was arrested in the 800 block of Market St. Mitchell was wanted on a failure to appear warrant issued by Massac County. Mitchell was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
Andrea M. Travis,27, Metropolis was arrested in the 1700 block of Ferry. Travis was wanted on a Massac County warrant. The warrant was for retail theft. Travis was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
Alan D. Taylor II, 29, Metropolis was arrested at Huck’s. Taylor was wanted on a Massac County warrant. The warrant was to increase bond on a charge of residential arson. Taylor was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
Kyle Blake Littlemyer,27, Metropolis was arrested in the 100 block of W. 20th. Littlemyer was wanted on a Massac County warrant. The warrant was for aggravated assault. Littlemyer was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
The preceding information pertains to arrests made by the Metropolis Police Department. These arrests are made on the basis of probable cause and all arrestees are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
