Report: Cobden spent $9,910 per student in 2017-18

Spending per pupil at Cobden School Unit District 17 is up 14.4 percent from five years ago, according to a Southern Illinois News analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2017-18 report card shows the Union County school district spent $8,662 per pupil in 2013-14. It spent $9,910 in 2017-18.

The district saw its enrollment fall over the same period, from 571 to 529.

Cobden's spending in 2017-18 was 25.7 percent lower than the state average of $13,337.
