City of Metropolis City Council met July. 28.

The regular meeting of the City Council, City of Metropolis, Illinois was held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, July 28th, 2025, in Council Chambers of City Hall at 106 West 5th Street, Metropolis, Illinois. Upon roll call the following Council members were present: Alderwoman Michele Longworth, Aldermen Cord Koch, Jermey Holley, Chad Lewis, Darryl Neill, Al Wagner and Jeff Bullock, Mayor Gregg Jeffords, Corporate Counsel Andrew Leonard, City Clerk Jan Adams and concerned citizens of Metropolis. Aldermen Chuck Short was absent.

Chief Masse informed everyone about the National Night Out event Tuesday, August 5th at Superman Square from 3:30-8:30 pm. The event is hosted by the Metropolis Police Department. He added the last day pool blast party was Saturday, August 9th at the city pool.

Alderwoman Longworth shared the Metropolis Community Blood Drive is held Monday August 4th at First Baptist Church in the gym from 11:00am-5:00pm. Go to RedCrossBlood.org and enter sponsor code: Metropolis or call 800-RED-CROSS to schedule an appointment.

FINANCIAL REPORT:

Moved by Alderman Chad Lewis and second by Alderman Jeremy Holley to approve the Finance Report be received and approved and that the orders be drawn on the Treasurer for the different amounts mentioned therein and that the Mayor and the City Clerk be authorized to make necessary arrangements for payment of current Salaries, Payroll and Contract bills.
