Hardin County Community Unit School District 1 Board of Education met June 30.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

The Regular called meeting of the Hardin County Community Unit School District No. 1 met in the board room at the District office. The meeting was called to order by Jimmy Stunson at 6:35 p.m. Present were: Britt Belford, Ryan Cowsert, Jana Cowgill, Jimmy Stunson, Brenda Butts, Jeremy Littrell, Samantha Mosby. Administrators present: Andy Edmondson, Susan Armstrong, and Johnie Edwards.

April Winters, and members of the HCEA were recognized as guests.

A motion was made by Mosby and seconded by Butts to approve the consent agenda as presented. Mosby, yes; Cowsert, yes; Cowgill, yes; Stunson, yes; Butts, yes; Littrell, yes; Belford, yes. 7 yes, 0 no, motion carried.

Administrative reports: Ms. Edwards discussed handbook changes for the upcoming school year. A committee composed of 2 board members had met prior to discuss the proposed changes. The Athletic Handbook was also presented. Mrs. Armstrong discussed the Jr High School Improvement Plan and Literacy Plan and stated that the goals for the plan had been met for this year. She also reported on workshops for literacy, math and ELA. Mr. Edmondson gave updates on ongoing projects as well as future ones. Also discussed were increased insurance premiums, additional bus from highland, and pay for AOG days to Robinsons Transportation.

A motion was made by Belford and seconded by Cowsert to approve the amended 2024-25 school budget. Cowsert, yes; Cowgill, yes; Stunson, yes; Butts, yes; Littrell, yes; Belford, yes; Mosby, yes. 7 yes, 0 no, motion carried.

A motion was made by Cowsert and seconded by Mosby to approve bids for 2025-26 school year. Milk - Prairie Farms, Food Service - CRS, Bread - Performance. Cowgill, yes; Stunson, yes; Butts, yes; Littrell, yes; Belford, yes; Mosby, yes; Cowsert, yes. 7 yes, 0 no, motion carried.

A motion was made by Cowgill and seconded by Littrell to approve the handbooks with additional changes as given. Stunson, yes; Butts, yes; Littrell, yes; Belford, yes; Mosby, yes; Cowsert, yes, Cowgill, yes. 7 yes, 0 no, motion carried.

A motion was made by Belford and seconded by Mosby to approve the Jr High School Improvement Plan. Butts, yes; Littrell, yes; Belford, yes; Mosby, yes; Cowsert, yes, Cowgill, yes; Stunson, yes. 7 yes, 0 no, motion carried.

A motion was made by Mosby and seconded by Belford to approve the District Literacy Plan. Littrell, yes; Belford, yes; Mosby, yes; Cowsert, yes; Cowgill, yes; Stunson, yes; Butts, yes. 7 yes, 0 no, motion carried

A motion was made by Belford and seconded by Littrell to approve the Consolidated District Plan. Belford, yes; Mosby, yes; Cowsert, yes; Cowgill, yes; Stunson, yes; Butts, yes; Littrell, yes. 7 yes, 0 no, motion carried

A motion was made by Cowgill and seconded by Belford to ratify bids for the Fire Panel and Outside Gym. Mosby, yes; Cowsert, yes; Cowgill, yes; Stunson, yes; Butts, yes; Littrell, yes; Belford, yes. 7 yes, 0 no, motion carried.

A motion was made by Cowsert and seconded by Belford to approve the 2nd phase drainage replacement for the east end of the building. Cowsert, yes; Cowgill, yes; Stunson, yes; Butts, yes; Littrell, yes; Belford, yes; Mosby, yes, 7 yes, 0 no, motion carried.

A motion was made by Cowsert and seconded by Belford to approve Press Policy 119 updates. Cowgill, yes; Stunson, yes; Butts, yes; Littrell, yes; Belford, yes; Mosby, yes; Cowsert, yes. 7 yes, 0 no, motion carried.

A motion was made by Belford and seconded by Cowsert to enter into executive session at 7:35 p.m. (Belford left the meeting at 7:38 p.m.) Stunson, yes; Butts, yes; Littrell, yes; Belford, yes; Mosby, yes; Cowsert, yes, Cowgill, yes. 7 yes, 0 no, motion carried.

A motion was made by Mosby and seconded by Cowgill to approve the June 30th BOE sheet as presented.
