Hardin County Community Unit School District 1 Board of Education met May 29.

Here is the agenda provided by the board:

The Regular called meeting of the Hardin County Community Unit School District No. 1 met in the board room at the District office. The meeting was called to order by Jimmy Stunson at 6:30 p.m. Present were: Britt Belford, Ryan Cowsert, Jana Cowgill, Jimmy Stunson, Brenda Butts, Jeremy Littrell, Samantha Mosby. Administrators present: Andy Edmondson, Susan Armstrong, and Johnie Edwards.

April Winters, Ryan Dodd – Dodd Architects, and members of the HCEA were recognized as guests.

A motion was made by Cowsert and seconded by Belford to approve the consent agenda as presented. Littrell, yes; Belford, yes; Mosby, yes; Cowsert, yes; Cowgill, yes; Stunson, yes; Butts, yes.

Reports

Administrative repets: Ms. Edwards reported on the sports banquet, staff appreciation, Senior trip, honors and graduations. Ms. Armstrong reported on the AR fun day, Literacy Plan, as well as preliminary test scores. Mr. Edmondson expressed appreciation for the work that the Principals and Teachers had done to improve test scores, as well as updated the Board on the power outage. The Architect spoke with the Board about the Fire Alarm and Gym projects. Bid opening on June 12th.

A motion was made by Mosby and seconded by Belford to approve Mr. Edmondson to accept bids for Fire Panel and Outside Gym. (June 12th) Belford, yes; Mosby, yes; Cowsert, yes; Cowgill, yes; Stunson, yes; Butts, yes; Littrell, yes.

A motion was made by Belford and seconded by Cowsert to approve the drainage proposal by Ryan Vaughn. Mosby, yes; Cowsert, yes; Cowgill, yes; Stunson, yes; Butts, yes; Littrell, yes; Belford, yes.

A motion was made by Cowgill and seconded by Butts to approve a 30x30 shelter project near the Elementary playground. Cowsert, yes; Cowgill, yes; Stunson, yes; Butts, yes; Littrell, yes; Belford, yes; Mosby, yes.

A motion was made by Mosby and seconded by Belford to accept the final school calendar for 2024-25. Cowgill, yes; Stunson, yes; Butts, yes; Littrell, yes; Belford, yes; Mosby, yes; Cowsert, yes. 7 yes, 0 no, motion carried.

A motion was made by Cowsert and seconded by Cowgill to authorize the annual audit. Stunson, yes; Butts, yes; Littrell, yes; Belford, yes; Mosby, yes; Cowsert, yes, Cowgill, yes.

A motion was made by Cowsert and seconded by Belford to approve attendance to the FFA State Convention, June 10- 12th. Butts, yes; Littrell, yes; Belford, yes; Mosby, yes; Cowsert, yes; Cowgill, yes; Stunson, yes.

A motion was made by Cowsert and seconded by Belford to approve the tentative amended budget and 30 day public inspection with the Budget Hearing to be held on June 30, 2025 at 6:30 p.m. Littrell, yes; Belford, yes; Mosby, yes; Cowsert, yes; Cowgill, yes; Stunson, yes; Butts, yes.

A motion was made by Belford and seconded by Cowsert to enter into executive session at 7:14 p.m. Belford, yes; Mosby, yes; Cowsert, yes; Cowgill, yes; Stunson, yes; Butts, yes; Littrell, yes.

A motion was made by Mosby and seconded by Stunson to approve the April 28th BOE sheet as presented.
