Pope County taxpayers ranked 99th in total sales taxes paid per county in November 2024, according to Illinois tax records.

In total, Pope County residents paid $31,900 in sales taxes during November 2024.

Pope County ranked 100th in the Prairie State the month before, with $26,677 spent in sales taxes.

The County Sales Tax accounted for the largest share of sales taxes paid by Pope County residents in November 2024.

As of 2021, Illinois was the highest taxed state in the US. A study from Wallet Hub found Illinois taxes were 39.83% higher than the national average.
