FOIA Request to Hardin County Election Division Regarding Upcoming Election Candidates on February 5, 2025.
As part of our ongoing commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at Southern Illinois News have submitted a request under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140.
Our request is specifically for a list of all candidates running in the upcoming election. We believe that access to this information is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities, which include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.
The details we have requested include the first, middle, and last names of the candidates; the office they are running for; jurisdiction of the office; party affiliation of each candidate; as well as their contact information including address, phone number, and email address.
Given our role in disseminating information to the public, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as a media professional. As always, we remain committed to serving our readers with timely and accurate information about local government affairs.
