FOIA Request to City Of Golconda Regarding New and Active Residential and Commercial Building Permits on October 30, 2024.
As part of our ongoing commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at Southern Illinois News have submitted a request for records under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140.
Our request is specifically for a list of all new residential and commercial building permits issued from January 1, 2023 till today's date. We have asked for the following details: type of permit, date issued, fee paid, requester, address, and contractor name.
In addition to this, we have also requested a list of all active residential and commercial building permits along with their current status. The fields we have asked for are similar to those in the new permits: type of permit, date issued, fee paid, requester, address, and contractor name.
Access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Given our role in disseminating information as a media organization, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver.
