FOIA Request to City of Anna Regarding Building Permits on October 30, 2024.
In our continuous effort to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at Southern Illinois News have sent a request under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140, to the City of Anna. The request is for records of all new residential and commercial building permits issued from January 1, 2023, till the present date.
The information requested includes specific details such as the type of permit, date issued, fee paid, requester's name, address of the property, and contractor's name. This information will allow us to scrutinize the development activities within the city accurately.
Additionally, we have also asked for a list of all active residential and commercial building permits along with their current status. The same detailed fields as mentioned above are requested for these active permits.
As a media organization committed to holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public, access to these public records is essential for us. We believe that we are eligible for a fee waiver as a media professional given our role in disseminating information.
