City of Metropolis Planning Commission met Sept. 26.

Here are the minutes provided by the commission:

Members Present: Don Canada, Micah Tolbert, Jim Young, Greg Jeffords

1. CALL TO ORDER

5. TEXT AMENDMENT-SIGNS

Review and take action for a text amendment to Section 156.445: Signs of the Metropolis Zoning Code

a. Presentation by Chad Murray

Present code is confusing. Current 156.451(a) “up to a max of a 32…”. Suggested is “minimum of a 32 square foot…”

6. TEXT AMENDMENT-SOLAR DEVELOPMENTS

Review and take action for a text amendment regarding solar developments.

We need something written for solar developments:

-solar energy farms and their requirements with at least 14 acres

-ground mount solar system for private or local businesses (accessory-use)  

Special use permit needed for both? Would like to shape all this into an ordinance.

7. SPECIAL USE PERMIT-216 W 10TH STREET

Request for special use permit for a guest house at 216 W 10th Street.

Single family with detached garage in backyard. Garage has existing apartment upstairs with its own meter.

9. PRELIMINARY REVIEW-SITE PLAN

Preliminary review of site plan submitted by Rural Health.

Rural Health wants to expand and build on property located on US Rte 45. Initial site plan submitted.
