Hardin County Community Unit School District 1 Board of Education met July 29.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

The Regular called meeting of the Hardin County Community Unit School District No. 1 met in the board room at the District office. The meeting was called to order by Colby Potts at 6:30 p.m. Present were: Greg McDowell, Ryan Cowsert, Jana Cowgill, Ryan Vaughn, Colby Potts. Britt Belford was absent. Administrators present: Andy Edmondson, Susan Armstrong, and Johnie Edwards.

Eric Robinson, Tony Johnson, Aaron Bishop, Jimmy Stunson, Anette Beason, and members of the HCEA were recognized as guests.

A motion was made by Cowsert and seconded by Vaughn to approve the consent agenda as presented. McDowell, yes; Potts, yes; Cowsert, yes; Cowgill, yes; Vaughn, yes. 5 yes, 0 no, motion carried.

Administrative Reports: Mrs. Armstrong reported on the Back to School bash, Ms. Edwards discussed possible grant for Crisis Mapping, and Mr. Edmondson gave updates on outside gym, shot clock rules and bass fishing team.

A motion was made by Vaughn and seconded by McDowell to authorize preparation of 2024-25 budget. Potts, yes; Cowsert, yes; Cowgill, yes; Vaughn, yes; McDowell, yes. 5 yes, 0 no, motion carried.

A motion was made by Cowgill and seconded by Vaughn to accept the Bus Contract as presented with Robinson Transportation. Potts, yes; Cowsert, yes; Cowgill, yes; Vaughn, yes; McDowell, yes. 5 yes, 0 no, motion carried.

A motion was made by Potts and seconded by Cowsert to approve the School Improvement Plan. Cowsert, yes; Cowgill, yes; Vaughn, yes; McDowell, yes; Potts, yes. 5 yes, 0 no, motion carried.

A motion was made by Vaughn and seconded by Cowgill to allow Christian Athletes to meet as a club option. Cowgill, yes; Vaughn, yes; McDowell, yes; Potts, yes; Cowsert, yes. 5 yes, 0 no, motion carried.

A motion was made by McDowell and seconded by Cowsert to enter into executive session at 7:05 p.m. Vaughn, yes; McDowell, yes; Potts, yes; Cowsert, yes; Cowgill, yes. 5 yes, 0 no, motion carried.

A motion was made by Cowgill and seconded by Cowsert to exit executive session at 8:04 p.m. Vaughn, yes; McDowell, yes; Potts, yes; Cowsert, yes; Cowgill, yes. 5 yes, 0 no, motion carried.

A motion was made by Potts and seconded by McDowell to approve the July 29th BOE sheet as presented. Resignations of sponsors: Hunter Cullum - Athletic Director, Hunter Cullum - JRH Boys Basketball Coach, lan Jones - Sophomore Class Sponsor, Travis DeNeal - Sophomore Class Sponsor, Annetta Beeson - Custodian, Rhiannon Skoog - HS History, Kristina Winters - JRH Volleyball Coach.

Employment Paraprofessionals: Grace Carter, Danielle Owens, Courtney English - Title I Paraprofessional Employment Teachers: Sarah McKenzie - Special Ed Teacher, William Travis Reider - Drivers Ed/PE, Allison Cleary - Jr High Interventionist/Truancy/Health Teacher, Cassie Belford - Social Science Teacher Substitute Custodian/Cook: Paul E Hall

Extra Curricular: Travis DeNeal - Archery Coach, Natalie Vaughn - Senior Class Sponsor, Allison Cleary Senior Class Sponsor, Erica Dial - JRH Girls Basketball Coach, Natalie Vaughn - Athletic Director, Kelsi Love - JRH Girls Softball Coach, Darian Jackson & Jessica Headlam - Book Fair Approved (Split), Kelsi Love - 8th Grade Sponsor, Jason Vaughn - JRH Boys Basketball Coach.

A motion was made by Vaughn and seconded by McDowell to appoint Jimmy Stunson to the vacant Board position. Potts, yes; Cowsert, yes; Cowgill, yes; Vaughn, yes; McDowell, yes. 5 yes, 0 no, motion carried.

A motion was made by McDowell and seconded by Cowsert to adjourn the meeting at 8:05 p.m. Potts, yes; Cowsert, yes; Cowgill, yes; Vaughn, yes; McDowell, yes. 5 yes, 0 no, motion carried.
