Illinois State Board of Education, Illinois Purchased Care Review Board met June 4.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

Chairman Luke Corry called the meeting to order at 1:06 p.m. Roll call was taken, and a quorum was present. The board acknowledged the appointment of Camille Hicks as the representative from the Illinois Department of Public Health.

MINUTES

Chairman Corry asked for a motion to approve the minutes and attachments from the May 7, 2024, meeting. Ms. Patrick made a motion to approve the minutes as presented. Mr. Carlin seconded the motion. The motion passed on a unanimous vote, and the minutes and attachments were approved.

PUBLIC COMMENT

None.

CLOSED SESSION

None.

SCHOOLS

Ms. Martinez Escobedo and Ms. McClintock presented rates for the 2023-24 and 2024-25 school years. Please refer to the Minutes Attachments for all rates presented, their amounts, and the actions taken.

Mr. Staley made a motion to table the rate presentation for both 2023-24 and 2024-25 school years for Judge Rotenberg Education Center schools in order for the board to gather more information about the programs. Rates will be presented at the July 2024 meeting.

OLD BUSINESS

Ms. Martinez Escobedo reminded the board that the required Open Meetings Act Training goes by calendar year. She advised the board members to complete their training and provide the completion certificate to ISBE staff. Mr. Krupin informed the board members that their completion certificates are required to be on file.

NEW BUSINESS

Illinois Purchased Care Review Board meeting dates for 2024-25 were presented to the board. Mr. Staley made the motion to approve the dates as presented; Mr. Dirks seconded the motion. The motion passed on a unanimous vote.

Nominating Committee Chairman Dirks presented the slate of officers -- Luke Corry, chairman; Marc Staley, vice chairman; and Rahnee Patrick, secretary --. for the 2024-25 year. Mr. Staley made a motion to approve the slate of officers as presented; Mr. Dirks seconded the motion. The motion passed on a unanimous vote.

Mr. Corry brought attention to the passing of Senate Bill 3606, which amends the Children with Disabilities Article of the School Code. There was discussion pertaining to what the bill entails and how it will impact public schools and the operations of the IPCRB. Board members asked ISBE staff to keep them updated on the implementation of the new requirements.

ADJOURNMENT

Chairman Corry asked if there was any additional business for the board’s consideration. Hearing none, he asked for a motion to adjourn. Mr. Dirks made a motion to adjourn the meeting; Mr. Carlin seconded the motion. The motion passed in a unanimous vote. The meeting adjourned at 2:12 p.m.

The next regularly scheduled monthly meeting of the Illinois Purchased Care Review Board will be at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, in the Boardroom on the fourth floor of the Illinois State Board of Education.
