City of Vienna City Council met May 15.

The City Council of the City of Vienna met in regular session, Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at Vienna City Hall with the following members and guests:

ELECTED/APPOINTED OFFICIALS PRESENT:

Steven Penrod, Mayor

Alan Racey, Alderman

Angela Moore, Alderman

Austin Tuey, Alderman

Melissa Hill, Alderman

Aleatha Wright, Clerk

Justin Hartline, City Supt.

ELECTED OFFICIALS ABSENT:

Ron Pitts, Alderman

Tim Elliott, Alderman

There being a quorum, Mayor Penrod called the meeting of the Vienna City Council to order at 6:30 p.m.

NEW BUSINESS

Alderman Tuey made a motion to Authorize and Approve the Omnibus Consent Agenda consisting of the May 1, 2024 meeting minutes, April Treasurer Report and the Warrant ($156,659.88). Alderman Hill seconded the motion. All present in favor, motion carried.

Alderman Racey made a motion to Authorize and Approve Pay Estimate #2 for Redbud Lane Project-$72,737.26 (General Funds). Alderman Moore seconded the motion. All present in favor, motion carried.

Council reviewed a New Home Development Application issued by Ashlea Grumley for Lot #4 Hickory Ridge Subdivision.

Alderman Moore made a motion to Approve Residential Home Development Program Grant Agreement between the City Vienna and Ashlea Grumley, Lot #4 Hickory Ridge Subdivision.

Alderman Tuey seconded the motion. All present in favor, motion carried.

Alderman Hill made a motion for the City of Vienna to employ Dawson Hill for part-time ballpark maintenance, $14.00 per hour. Alderman Moore seconded the motion. All present in favor, motion carried.

PUBLIC COMMENT

None

ELECTED/APPOINTED OFFICIALS

Wright gave an update on electric rates per the Southern Illinois Aggregation program. From June 2024 to June 2025 rates will be $0.091/kWh. Residents will receive opt out letters from Homefield Energy with rate information. Wright also said annual local liquor license renewals had been sent out.

Mayor Penrod said Shawnee Worship Center's community clean-up day was scheduled for Saturday, May 25th

Penrod presented a proposed tank logo concerning the water tower refurbishment project.

Penrod questioned council's interest in using profits from solar eclipse t-shirt sales for two bands to perform at the city park this summer. Council was in agreement.

As there was no further business to discuss, Alderman Tuey made a motion to adjourn. Seconded by Alderman Racey. Mayor Penrod declared the meeting adjourned at 6:51 p.m.
