Vienna Public School District 55 Board of Education met Jan. 8.

Opening

The regular meeting of the Vienna Public School District #55 Board of Education was called to order by Mrs. Sherie Smith, President, at 6:00 p.m. with the following members present:

Consent Agenda

Motion by Betts seconded by Trovillion to approve the consent agenda as corrected. Roll call. Voting yes: Borders, Trovillion, Yadloski, Moore, Smith, Betts. Voting no: none. Motion carried.

Comments from Employees and Public

Mrs. Vinson discussed growth in her classroom. She also discussed the Ram Tram presented monthly by the SEL team. The SEL team is also presenting a wellness giveaway for employees where employees nominate other employees as winners.

Business of the Administration

(A) Treasurer's Report (1) fund balances (2) expenditure and revenue reports (3) FRIS report (B) Administrative Reports (1) average daily attendance and enrollment (August – December 2023) (2) school improvement plan update and principal search update

Closed Session

Motion by Betts seconded by Borders to go in to closed session at 6:39 p.m. to discuss (1) the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of employees of the district or legal counsel for the district including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee of the district or against legal counsel of the district, to determine its validity. Roll call. Voting yes: Borders, Trovillion, Yadloski, Moore, Smith, Betts. Voting no: none. Motion carried.

Motion by Borders seconded by Moore to come out of closed session and return to regular open session at 8:19 p.m. Roll call. Voting yes: Borders, Trovillion, Yadloski, Moore, Smith, Betts. Voting no: none. Motion carried.

Let the records show the following items were discussed: (1) the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of employees of the district or legal counsel for the district including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee of the district or against legal counsel of the district, to determine its validity.

Seniority Lists

Motion by Trovillion seconded by Yadloski to approve the seniority list as presented for certified staff. Roll call. Voting yes: Borders, Trovillion, Yadloski, Moore, Smith, Betts. Voting no: none. Motion carried.

Motion by Yadloski seconded by Moore to approve the employment service records as presented for non-certified staff. Roll call. Voting yes: Borders, Trovillion, Yadloski, Moore, Smith, Betts. Voting no: none. Motion carried.

Policies

Motion by Borders seconded by Trovillion to approve the recommended PRESS Plus policies for Vienna Grade School board as presented. Roll call. Voting yes: Borders, Trovillion, Yadloski, Moore, Smith, Betts. Voting no: none. Motion carried.

Adopt Calendar

Motion by Borders seconded by Moore to approve the 2024-2025 school calendar as proposed. Roll call. Voting yes: Borders, Trovillion, Yadloski, Moore, Smith, Betts. Voting no: none. Motion carried.

Other

Mrs. Smith read a thank-you card for the Christmas luncheon from the jr. high team.

Mrs. Borders read a letter of recommendation for Elaina Johnson, cheerleader, who was nominated for and won the ICCA unsung hero award at the state cheerleading competition.

Motion by Betts seconded by Trovillion to adjourn at 8:45 p.m. All voted yea. Motion carried.
