Hardin County Community Unit School District 1 Board of Education met Dec. 21.

Here is the agenda provided by the board:

The Regular called meeting of the Hardin County Community Unit School District No. 1 met in the board room at the District office. The meeting was called to order by Britt Belford at 6:31 p.m. Present were: Greg McDowell, Britt Belford, Ryan Cowsert, Jana Cowgill, Colby Potts Ryan Vaughn and Mike Dutton. Administrators present: Andy Edmondson, Ira Cruson, and Susan Armstrong.

Members of the HCEA were recognized as guests.

A motion was made by Cowsert and seconded by Potts to approve the consent agenda as presented. McDowell, yes; Belford, yes; Potts, yes; Cowsert, yes; Cowgill, yes; Dutton, yes; Vaughn, yes.

Administrative Reports: Mr. Cruson gave a report on the Fire Marshal Visit. Mrs. Armstrong gave updates on semester exams, Christmas program, and Teacher Institute. Mr. Edmondson discussed bus arrivals, internet after school hours, sound system, and gave update on the baseball field. He also reported on the Annual Financial Report and that we had a good 2023 Audit.

A motion was made by Belford and seconded by McDowell to approve the tax levy as presented. (4.5%) Cowsert, yes; Cowgill, yes; Dutton, no; Vaughn, yes; McDowell, yes; Belford, yes; Potts, yes.

A motion was made by Potts and seconded by Vaughn to approve the separation of club Track and Soccer. Cowgill, yes; Dutton, yes; Vaughn, yes; McDowell, yes; Belford, yes; Potts, yes; Cowsert, yes.

Mr. Edmondson gave an update on the Fire System and Panel. No action was taken. Mike Dutton will speak with a colleague from Johnson Controls for more information.

A motion was made by Cowgill and seconded by Vaughn to enter executive session at 7:05 p.m. Vaughn, yes; McDowell, yes; Belford, yes; Potts, yes; Cowsert, yes; Cowgill, yes; Dutton, yes.

A motion was made by Cowsert and seconded by Cowgill to exit executive session at 8:09 p.m. Belford, yes; Potts, yes; Cowsert, yes; Cowgill, yes; Dutton, yes; Vaughn, yes; McDowell, yes.

A motion was made by Cowsert and seconded by Potts to approve the December 21st BOE sheet as presented.

Approve resignations- Audrea Davis - Paraprofessional, Madison Miller - Teacher at the end of the 2023-24 school term.

Approve the transfer of Tina Burton to Classroom Aide

Hire Jonni Roberts as Individual Aide

Approve additions to district sub list: Michael Johnsey - Maintenance; Danyel Drone - paraprofessional and substitute teacher; Christen Hill - Paraprofessional (pending certification) Potts, yes; Cowsert, yes; Cowgill, yes; Dutton, yes; Vaughn, yes; McDowell, yes; Belford, yes.
