City of Metropolis City Council met Oct. 10.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

The regular meeting of the City Council, City of Metropolis, Illinois was held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, October 10th, 2023 in Council Chambers of City Hall at 106 West 5th Street, Metropolis, Illinois. Upon roll call the following Council members were present: Alderwoman Michele Longworth, Aldermen Chad Lewis, Jermey Holley, Brian Anderson, Chuck Short, Al Wagner, Dylan Chambers, Darryl Neill, Corporate Counsel Andrew Leonard, Mayor Don Canada, City Clerk Jan Adams and concerned citizens of Metropolis. Alderman was absent.

ROLL CALL:

Moved by Alderman Darrell Neill and second by Alderman Chad Lewis to approve the minutes of the previous meeting held on 9-25-2023 as presented;

CITIZENS REQUEST:

Letitia Brazell requested clarification on the new laws that went to effect September 1st after receiving two different interpretations. Her concerns have escalated due to people continually walking in her alleyway and yard. Both mayor Canada and city attorney Andrew Leonard informed her they would seek out the true meaning of the law and get back to her.

MAYOR’S REPORT:

Moved by Alderman Chad Lewis and second by Alderman Al Wagner to approve payment for a completed Business Improvement Grant awarded to Lange Chiropractic in the amount of $1,758.45;

CORPORATE COUNSEL:

One bid was received for 207 & 209 West 20th Street:

FINANCIAL REPORT:

Moved by Alderman Jeremy Holley and second by Alderman Brian Anderson to approve the Finance Report be received and approved and that the orders be drawn on the Treasurer for the different amounts mentioned therein and that the Mayor and the City Clerk be authorized to make necessary arrangements for payment of current Salaries, Payroll and Contract bills;
