Blaine Wilhour, House Representative of the Illinois House of Representatives, Illinois General Assembly, voiced his concerns on Oct 2nd regarding a deal between the Illinois government and a Chinese company. Wilhour questioned why the government was giving $8 billion to a Chinese company for a plant that was estimated to cost $2 billion.

During a gathering of citizens in Manteno, Wilhour expressed his frustration with the lack of transparency surrounding the deal. He emphasized the need for accountability and criticized the government for making deals behind closed doors without proper disclosures.

Wilhour made it clear that the issue at hand was not with the Chinese people, but rather with the Chinese government. He urged the governor to address the serious questions being raised and to prioritize the best interests of the country over radical ideology.

In response to the concerns raised by Wilhour and other critics, Governor JB Pritzker released a statement praising the deal. He announced that the EV battery plant, which is set to open in Manteno next year, would be the largest electric vehicle battery production investment in Illinois to date. The plant is expected to create 2,600 jobs and contribute to the state's economic growth.

Pritzker highlighted Illinois' status as a leading destination for companies and investors, emphasizing the state's talented workforce, efficient transportation systems, and collaborative economic growth mindset. He described the deal as a testament to Illinois' rising status and commitment to being open for business.

House Representative Blaine Wilhour, who has been serving in the Illinois House of Representatives since January 2019, continues to raise concerns about the deal, calling for more transparency from the governor and the government regarding the use of taxpayers' money.

The debate surrounding the deal between the Illinois government and the Chinese company highlights the concerns and differing viewpoints on economic partnerships and transparency in government decision-making.
