CALL TO ORDER
On August 8, 2023, at 6:02 p.m. President Adina Hoover called to order the regular meeting of the Community Unit School District 201 Board of Education.
Roll Call
Members present: Adina Hoover, Kevin Marren, Angela Steketee, Leah Conover, Carlos Hevia, Jessica Radogno
Members absent: Whitney Rogers
Also present: Superintendent Jack Baldermann; Business Manager Anthony Ruelli; and the Superintendent’s Administrative Assistant, Shannon Cossairt.
Pledge of Allegiance
President Hoover led the assembly in the Pledge of Allegiance.
CLOSED SESSION
Motion by Ms. Radogno, second by Ms. Conover, to enter closed session to discuss personnel issues.
Ayes: Steketee, Radogno, Hevia, Conover, Marren, Hoover
Nays: None.
Motion Carried.
The Board moved to closed session at 6:03 p.m.
The Board returned to open session at 6:32 p.m.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES July 25, 2023
Motion by Ms. Steketee, second by Mr. Hevia, to approve the minutes of the July 25, 2023 regular meeting of the Board of Education, as presented.
Ayes: Steketee, Radogno, Hevia, Conover, Marren, Hoover
Nays: None.
Motion Carried.
July 25, 2023 Closed Session
Motion by Ms. Conover, second by Mr. Marren, to approve the minutes of the closed session of the July 25, 2023, regular meeting of the Board of Education, as presented.

Nays: None.

INFORMATION/DISCUSSION Community Inclusion on District Committees
The CUSD 201 Board discussed how we can have more community involvement on our committees. One thing they would like to see is for the PR Committee to publicize the dates of the meetings. They would like the community to understand the commitment. The Board also discussed the structure of the meetings and the different committees.
Update of WJHS HVAC System
Mr. Ruelli gave the Board an update on the HVAC system. He discussed the initial timeline and where the project stands at this time. He included a breakdown of this time line in BoardDocs.
SUPERINTENDENT’S REPORT
Communications
Superintendent Baldermann shared that we are excited to start the school year and he is looking forward to welcoming back students and staff.

Ms. Conover would like to thank Ms. Courington and Ms. Pietrzak for hosting the Dual Language 4th/5th grade parent meeting. Ms. Steketee is happy to see the South School logo has been included on the website.
