The regular meeting of the City Council, City of Metropolis, Illinois was held at 7:10 p.m. on Monday, July 10th, 2023 in Council Chambers of City Hall at 106 West 5th Street, Metropolis, Illinois. Upon roll call the following Council members were present: Alderwoman Michele Longworth, Aldermen Chuck Short, Chad Lewis, Jeremy Holley, Al Wagner, Dylan Chambers, Brian Anderson, Darryl Neill, Corporate Counsel Andrew Leonard, Mayor Don Canada, City Clerk Jan Adams and concerned citizens of Metropolis.

MAYOR’S REPORT:
National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make neighborhoods safer and a more caring place to live. This is a great opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances. Neighborhoods host festivals, block parties, cookouts and various other community events with safety demonstrations, youth events, visits from emergency personnel and much more. Tuesday, August 1st is the NNO at the Girl Scout house from 4-9 pm. Chief Masse shared we will have food, games, dunk tank, face painting, balloon animals and lots more. We are going to have other organizations there such as MACDAC, Sheriff’s Dept, Fire Dept, Police Dept, Massac Memorial Hospital as well as Boy Scout Troup 101 and the Girl Scout Troop #8029. He extended an open invitation to the council.
