Massac County Community Unit School District No. 1 Board of Education met June 26.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

A Regular Meeting of the Board of Education of Massac County Unit School District No. 1, Massac County, Illinois, was called to order in the Library of the Massac County High School, located at 2841 Old Marion Rd, Metropolis, IL, in said District at 6:30 PM by Mr. Mark Souders

Upon a roll call, the following members answered present:

Present: William Holt

Kelly Jennings

Don Koch

Jennifer Larrison

Mark Souders

Also Present: Jason Hayes, Superintendent

Kristin Rousseau, Supt/Board Secretary

Absent: Jeff Brugger

John Willis

At 6:31 PM with a motion from Jennings and a second from Holt, the Board voted to go to Closed Session to consider information relative to employment, appointment, or dismissal of specific employees or officers, collective negotiating matters between employers and their employees or representatives; to discuss litigation – probable, imminent, pending or file. Roll call: Holt, Jennings, Koch, Larrison, and Souders voted yes. Motion carried.

At 7:11 PM the Board returned to Open Session.

Public Comment/Invited Guests:

None.

A motion was made by Larrison and seconded by Koch to approve the consent agenda consisting of Minutes/Treasurer’s Report/Bills/Payroll. Roll call: Holt, Jennings, Koch, Larrison, and Souders voted yes. Motion carried.

With a motion from Koch and a second from Larrison the Board voted to Approve the FY23 Amended Budget. Roll call: Holt, Jennings, Koch, Larrison, and Souders voted yes. Motion carried.

With a motion from Jennings and a second from Larrison the Board voted to Approve the overnight trip request by the MCHS Soccer Team. Roll call: Holt, Jennings, Koch, Larrison, and Souders voted yes. Motion carried.

With a motion from Koch and a second from Jennings the Board voted to Approve the insurance renewal for property, liability, cyber, worker compensation, and umbrella as presented. Roll call: Holt, Jennings, Koch, Larrison, and Souders voted yes. Motion carried.

With a motion from Holt and a second from Koch the Board voted to Approve the Massacre Junior High School 2023/2024 student handbook. Roll call: Holt, Jennings, Koch, Larrison, and Souders voted yes. Motion carried.

With a motion from Jenning and a second from Koch the Board voted to Authorize the Superintendent to prepare the 2023/2024 budget, Kim Farmer to write Activity Fund checks as approved, and Treasurer and Business Manager to make Interfund Loans as needed (transfers). Roll call: Holt, Jennings, Koch, Larrison, and Souders voted yes. Motion carried.

Personnel:

With a motion made by Larrison and seconded by Holt the Board voted to Approve the resignations of Kelsey Cromeenes-School Social Worker, Dylan Anthony-MJHS Baseball Coach, Cory Hastings-MCHS Girls Bowling Coach, Mark Mizell-MJHS Assistant Volleyball Coach, and Jessie Wieneke-MCHS Assistant Softball Coach. Roll call: Holt, Jennings, Koch, Larrison, and Souders voted yes. Motion carried.

With a motion made by Koch and seconded by Holt the Board voted to Approve the Hiring of Lora Jacobs as Jefferson Elementary Teacher Aide. Roll call: Holt, Jennings, Koch, Larrison, and Souders voted yes. Motion carried.

With a motion made by Larrison and seconded by Jennings the Board voted to Approve the Hiring of Lauren Porter as MCHS Mary Teacher. Roll call: Holt, Jennings, Koch, Larrison, and Souders voted yes. Motion carried.

With a motion made by Holt and seconded by Larrison the Board voted to Approve the Hiring of Leslie Downs as MCHS Social Worker Counselor. Roll call: Holt, Jennings, Koch, Larrison, and Souders voted yes. Motion carried.

With a motion made by Jennings and seconded by Koch the Board voted to Approve the Hiring of Amber Holley as MES Early Childhood Teacher Aide. Roll call: Holt, Jennings, Koch, Larrison, and Souders voted yes. Motion carried.

With a motion made by Koch and seconded by Holt the Board voted to Approve the Hiring of Lisa Davidson as MCHS Head Cook. Roll call: Holt, Jennings, Koch, Larrison, and Souders voted yes. Motion carried.

With a motion from Larrison and a second from Jennings the Board voted to adjourn at 7:37 PM. Roll call: Holt, Jennings, Koch, Larrison, and Souders voted yes. Motion carried.
