Illinois State Board of Education, State Education Equity Committee met June 9.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

WELCOME AND ROLL CALL

State Superintendent of Education Dr. Tony Sanders called the meeting to order and asked Josh Peters to take roll.

A quorum was not present; however,Dr. Sanders stated that he would like to proceed. There was no objection to proceeding.

INTRODUCTIONS Dr. Sanders asked the committee members to introduce themselves. Each member introduced themself and shared their title, organization, and anything else they wished to share.

DISCUSSION RE. SEEC RECOMENDATIONS

Dr. Sanders began with opening remarks concerning his goals as the state superintendent of education and as chair of this committee.

Dr. Sanders proceeded to affirm for the committee that he had reviewed the recommendations from the January 2022 report. He shared his thoughts, questions, and concerns regarding the recommendations. Members of the committee also shared their thoughts, questions, and concerns related to educational equity.

NEXT STEPS

Dr. Sanders discussed setting the date of the next meeting. He asked Mr. Peters to share a Doodle Poll with members to determine a date that works for everyone.

None.

ADJOURN

As a quorum was still not present, Dr. Sanders adjourned the meeting.
