We need to approve and update our Net Metering and Customer Self Generating Interconnection policy. The net metering policy permits customers of the city of Metropolis’ electric system to own and operate eligible forms of renewable electric generation and have the output of that generation used to offset that customer’s electric energy. Customer self-generation interconnection is a policy for onsite, renewable energy, generating facilities to connect to the City of Metropolis’ electric distribution system in a manner that allows excess electricity generated by the customer to be safely delivered on our electric distribution system. The ordinance needs amending annually based on the solar credits set by the state. The ordinance will be approved annually in the month of January or soon after. The “avoided costs” in 2022 was $0.0541 per kWh and changes to $0.1001 per kWh.
Moved by Alderman Chuck Short and Seconded by Alderman Jermey Holley to recommend to full Council Adopting an Ordinance Approving a Net Metering Policy and a Customer Self -Generation Interconnection Policy for the City of Metropolis and Amending Title V, Public Works, Chapter 50 Electricity, Sections 50.35 Through and Including 50.46;
