Q3 2022 Recap: 2 parolees from Alexander County convicted of crimes involving weapons set for release

There were two offenders convicted of crimes involving weapons living in Alexander County released on parole during the third quarter of 2022, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the Southern Illinois News.

The data shows both of the released offenders among the parolees were men. Of the parolees sentenced for crimes involving weapons, one was a veteran, and the median age was 56. The younger parolee was a 50-year-old man sentenced in 2022, and the oldest was a 62-year-old man sentenced in 2017.

The offender who had been incarcerated the longest was Richard Hale Jr. He was convicted in 2017 when he was 57 years old. He is now 62.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.

The following table shows how many offenders convicted of crimes involving weapons were paroled during the third quarter of 2022 in each Illinois county.
