2022 Parolees Recap: Who was paroled in Johnson County?

There were seven offenders released on parole during 2022 that live in Johnson County, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by Southern Illinois News.

The data shows all of the released offenders in Johnson County were men. Of the parolees, three were veterans, and the median age was 49. The youngest parolee was a 29-year-old man convicted of a property crime in 2016, and the oldest was a 67-year-old man convicted of homicide in 1989.

The offender who was incarcerated the longest was Stephen P. Tripp. He was convicted of homicide in 1989 when he was 32 years old. He is now 67.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.

The table below gives a breakdown of how many offenders were paroled in 2022 in each Johnson County.
