Here are the minutes provided by the board:

I. Minutes of the Regular Meeting of the Board of Education, Century Community  Unit School District #100, Johnson-Alexander-Massac-Pulaski Counties, held Tuesday,  January 17, 2023 at 6:00 p.m. in the Superintendent’s Office, Century CUSD #100,  Ullin, IL. 

Meeting called to order by Board President Wes Anderson at 6:00 pm.

III. Recognition of Guests and Visitors/Public Comment 

A. Bass Fishing Team

1. Requested to be classified as a sport

2. Used Title 9 as part of argument since girls have an “extra” sport 

3. Colleges recognize it as a “sport”

IV. Closed Session TIME: 6:07 

∙ Motion to conduct a closed session for the purpose of: 

a) The appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the public body. 5 ILCS 120/2(c)(1) 

1) Donald Hollis will be present for a hearing with Board regarding accusations discussed in December. 

b) Collective negotiating matters between the public body its employees or their representatives. 5 ILCS 120/2(c)(2). 

2) Brief update and discussion on start date. Information requested by the union is included and I am working on responding (as of 1/11)

CES

∙ PreK make it/take it in December. Thirteen families participated. 

∙ MAP results showing student growth

∙ Helping Hands – 18 students get food bags

∙ Jr. High Girls season is over

∙ Jr. High Boys regional last week of January

∙ Jr. High Volleyball begins February 6.

∙ Homecoming Coronation and Dance January 21.

∙ Century Day at SCC game/ free attendance January 28

D. Superintendents Report 

∙ Minimum wage at $13 beginning January 1.

∙ Elementary Gym HVAC issues requires significant repair ($6,000) 

∙ School Board election/deadline for write-in candidates February 2. 

∙ Midyear budget update

∙ No action taken on HB 5/88

IX. Future Business 

A. The next regular Board meeting will be held Tuesday, February 21, 2023
