The regular meeting of the City Council, City of Metropolis, Illinois was held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, January 9, 2023 in Council Chambers of City Hall at 106 West 5th Street, Metropolis, Illinois. Upon roll call the following Council members were present: Alderwoman Michele Longworth, Aldermen Dylan Chambers, Jeremy Holley, Chuck Short, Brian Anderson, Chad Lewis, Darryl Neill, Al Wagner, Mayor Don Canada, Corporate Counsel Rick Abell, City Clerk Jan Adams and concerned citizens of Metropolis.

MAYOR’S REPORT:
Nick Holland was promoted to sergeant in a formal oath ceremony with his friends and family present. The new position took effect Jan 2nd replacing Sgt. John McNeely. Chief Masse thanked John McNeely for his 23 years of service, adding he will be sorely missed. Nick will continue to be the city’s K-9 officer.
