New Simpson Hill Community School District 32 Board of Education met Jan. 9.

President Hoffard called the regular board meeting of January 09, 2023, to order at 6:00PM. Present were: Hoffard, Mize, Ross, Hill, Widowski, Treat, and Baity.
Administration present: Mr. Nighswander and Ms. Yandell Visitors: Kathy Anderson, Kevin Wills
Motion by Hill seconded by Ross to approve the regular minutes of the 12-08-22 board meetings, carried.
Motion by Hill seconded by Treat to approve the financial report as presented and payment of the bills as listed in the amount of $48,055., carried.
ADMINISTRATIVE REPORTS: Enrollment/Mobility Report; Calendar/Menu; School Board election; Lunch audit; Maintenance grant; EPA permit issues; Kitchen equipment grant; Kevin Wills – Bernardi Securities
Motion by Hill seconded by Treat to approve the FY23 Sonority List for certified personnel as presented, carried.

Motion to authorize the Superintendent to have Bus #5 repaired, tabled.
Motion by Treat seconded by Mize to authorize the Superintendent to advertise for a principal position, carried.
Motion by Hill seconded by Baity to convene to closed session at 7:14 PM to discuss:
Appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance or dismissal of specific employee of the District or legal counsel for the District, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee or against legal counsel for the District to determine its validity. 5 ILCS 120/2(c)(1)
Discussion of minutes of meetings lawfully closed under the Open Meetings Act, whether for purposes of approval by the body of the minutes or semi-annual review of the minutes as mandated by Section 2.06. 5 ILCS 120/2 c (14) carried.
Motion by Hill seconded by Treat to resume open session at 7:45 PM, carried.
Motion by Widowski seconded by Baity to leave the closed session minutes dated 12/10/82, 1/14/85, 2/17/83, 10/8/85, 11/11/85 and 10/7/04 closed to the public, carried.
Motion by Mize seconded by Hill employ Kate Mullins as Pre-K part time aide starting immediately pending background check and proper certification as presented, carried.
Motion by Widowski seconded by Hill to employ Lisa Page as temporary part-time Speech and Language pathologist as presented, carried.
Motion by Treat seconded by Hill to adjourn, carried.
