Illinois state Rep. Patrick Windhorst (R-Metropolis) recently announced two new committee assignments.

He has been named Minority spokesman of the House Judiciary Law Committee and also appointed to the House Ethics and Elections Committee.

“In my role as Minority Spokesman of the House Judiciary Criminal Law Committee, I will continue to demand policies that respect our police and other law enforcement officials, and work to enact policies that make our communities and families safe," Windhorst said in a Feb. 2 release from his office.

He also commented on his appointment to the Ethics and Elections Committee.

"The Ethics and Elections Committee has a big job to do," the legislator said. "I am hopeful the committee’s work will focus on cleaning up government corruption, stopping the culture of self-service over public service, and ensure our elections are free and fair.”

In the past, Windhorst has introduced "comprehensive ethics reform legislation” that he hopes can help eliminate corruption in the State government, the release said.

On Jan. 12, the legislator was named the House Republican Floor leader. Additionally, he is a permanent member of the Economic Opportunity and Equity Committee as well as Minority spokesman for the House Restorative Justice Committee.

Windhorst was first elected to the Illinois House in 2018, the General Assembly website said. His legislative experience includes serving on the Restorative Justice and Judiciary - Criminal committees.
