Massac County Unit School District #1 Board of Education met Dec. 19.

At 6:30 PM Mr. Souders called the Truth in Taxation Hearing to order. Upon a roll call, the following members of the board were present:

William Holt
Don Koch
Jennifer Larrison
Mark Souders
Kathy Rushing
Bobette Steele
The Hearing was opened up for Public Comment. No oral or written comments were brought forward. Mr. Hayes proceeded to explain the proposed tax levy. Mr. Souders then closed the public hearing and adjourned at 6:33 PM.
A Regular Meeting of the Board of Education of Massac County Unit School District No. 1, Massac County, Illinois, was called to order in the Library of the Massac County High School, located at 2841 Old Marion Rd, Metropolis, IL, in said District at 6:33 PM by Board President, Mr. Mark Souders.
Upon a roll call, the following members answered present:

Also Present: Jason Hayes, Superintendent
Kristin Rousseau, Superintendent/Board Secretary
Absent: None
At 6:33 PM with a motion from Rushing and a second from Steele, the Board voted to go to Closed Session to consider information relative to employment, appointment, or dismissal of specific employees or officers, collective negotiating matters between employers and their employees or representatives; to discuss litigation – probable, imminent, pending or file. Roll call: Brugger, Holt, Koch, Larrison, Souders, Rushing, and Steele voted yes. Motion carried.
At 6:45 PM the Board returned to Open Session.

A motion was made by Steele and seconded by Bruger to approve the consent agenda consisting of Minutes/Treasurer’s Report/Bills/Payroll. Roll call: Brugger, Holt, Koch, Larrison, Souders, Rushing, and Steele voted yes. Motion carried.

New Business:
With a motion from Larrison and a second from Koch the Board voted to Approve the Final Tax Resolution for Tax Year 2022 as presented. Roll call: Brugger, Koch, Larrison, Souders, Rushing, and Steele voted yes. Holt voted no. Motion carried.
A motion was made by Steele and seconded by Larrison to approve the Graduation Dates: Massac Junior High-Thursday, May 11, 2023; Massac County High School: Friday, May 12, 2023 both at 7:00 PM. Roll call: Brugger, Holt, Koch, Larrison, Souders, Rushing, and Steele voted yes. Motion carried.
Personnel:
With a motion made by Koch and seconded by Brugger the Board voted to Approve the resignation of Alison Aranjo-MCHS Custodian and Keith Shelton-MCHS Girls’ Assistant Basketball Coach. Roll call: Brugger, Holt, Koch, Larrison, Souders, Rushing, and Steele voted yes. Motion carried.
With a motion made by Rushing and seconded by Brugger the Board voted to Approve the hiring of Mary Kate Martin-MES Head Cook. Roll call: Brugger, Holt, Koch, Larrison, Souders, Rushing, and Steele voted yes. Motion carried.
With a motion made by Larrison and seconded by Brugger the Board voted to Approve the hiring of Shawna Herron-MES EC Teacher Aide. Roll call: Brugger, Holt, Koch, Larrison, Souders, Rushing, and Steele voted yes. Motion carried.
With a motion made by Steele and seconded by Rushing the Board voted to Approve Joshua Hayden Morris -Volunteer MCHS E-Sports. Roll call: Brugger, Holt, Koch, Larrison, Souders, Rushing, and Steele voted yes. Motion carried.
With a motion made by Brugger and seconded by Rushing the Board voted to Approve Brooke Crim’s early return from Leave of Absence. Roll call: Brugger, Holt, Koch, Larrison, Souders, Rushing, and Steele voted yes. Motion carried.
The Board acknowledged the Involuntary Transfer of Ashlea Barde from MES Teacher Aide to MCHS Teacher Aide.
With a motion from Larrison and a second from Brugger the Board voted to adjourn at 7:00 PM. Roll call: Brugger, Holt, Koch, Larrison, Souders, Rushing, and Steele voted yes. Motion carried.
