Community Unit School District 200 Board of Education met Nov. 15.

On November15, 2022, at 6:00 p.m. President Hoover called to order the regular meeting of the Community Unit School District 201 Board of Education.
Members present: Jessica Radogno, Kevin Marren, Angela Steketee, Laura Coyle, Adina Hoover
Leah Conover entered the meeting at 6:03 p.m. Carlos Hevia arrived at the meeting at 8:40 p.m.
Also present: Superintendent Kevin Carey, Business Manager Anthony Ruelli, and the Superintendent's Administrative Assistant, Shannon Cossairt.
Adina Hoover led the assembly in the Pledge of Allegiance.
Motion by Ms. Coyle, second by Mr. Marren, to enter closed session to discuss personnel issues, student discipline, and collective bargaining.

Nays: None.

The Board entered closed session at 6:01 p.m.
The Board returned to open session at 7:04 p.m.

Jack Baldermann, Principal, Westmont High School, gave a presentation to the Board regarding the high school. Mr. Baldermann reviewed some of the many awards and accolades the high school has received over the years. He also shared information on the improvement in the graduation rates along with the improvement in the suspension data. Mr. Baldermann attributes all of the high school's success to the wonderful students and staff at the high school. Dr Weck, Dean of Students, shared information on the current truancy data. He attributes low truancy numbers to the staff of Westmont High School; the students trust the staff and feel welcomed in the building. Ms. Laura Lopez, Assistant Principal, introduced her self to the Board.
In addition to administration, WHS teachers, Marc Delisle and Anna Jakubowski, also shared positive feedback about the high school and the success it is having. They discussed the collaboration of teachers and collective teacher efficacy.
Westmont High School Student, Josh Graham, shared with the Board what he sees in the positive teacher student relationships at the high school. Students Defne Barkan and Ella Kalinski, shared about the successful partnership the high school has with Peoples Resource Center. Ms. Barkan and Ms. Kalinski serve on the Junior Board of PRC, which was established with the help of high school administrators and PRC.
Superintendent Carey shared a presentation, State of the District, with the Board regarding the Illinois School Report Card. The data was released at the end of October. Information presented included the following:
Anthony Ruelli, CSBO, presented the tentative tax levy to the Board. The levy is something done every year at this time. Mr. Ruelli's presentation included the following:

Medical Insurance Renewal
Mr. Ruelli gave the Board a summary of revenue received and expenditures for the month October. Additional documents are attached in BoardDocs for the Boards review.
On October 24, 2022, the Insurance Committee met to discuss the insurance options and rates for the next year. There will be a 13.9% increase next year.

Authorization Approving Emergency Expenditure of Funds for Special Education Transportation with aurora Naper Transportation, AM Regional Taxi, American Taxi, and Downers Grove Taxi
Every year during the IASB Tri-Conference school board representatives get together to review resolutions going through the IASB. Angela Steketee, is our school Board representative for the Tri-Conference. She asks the Board if they have any feedback regarding the resolutions being presented. There are no items to discuss.
Mr. Hevia entered the meeting at 8:40. He did not participate in the action items being presented.

December 3, 2022, is the Holly Days Festival in downtown Westmont. The parade starts at 5:00 p.m. Any Board members who would like to walk in the parade should meet at Manning by 4:15 p.m.
Superintendent Carey acknowledged it was School Board Member Day. He would like to extend his appreicaiton to the Board for all there work and thank them for putting students first.
