Women's basketball routs MUW in 82-49 win
The women's basketball team faced MUW on Thursday night and defeated the Owls 82-49 in H.J. Long Gymnasium. The Panthers received a team-high 17 points from Savana Powell-Goodman in the win. The Owls are in their final year as an NCAA Division III independent before joining Greenville in the SLIAC next season.
Powell-Goodman and the Panthers were on fire behind the three-point line, making 13-of-28 treys. Powell-Goodman and Maddy Meek each knocked down three three-pointers.
Meek was second in scoring for GU with 11 points, and Emily Reinneck posted a 10 point effort.
The Panthers took control of the game in the first quarter, posting a 31-16 advantage. Greenville limited the Owls to four second quarter points as GU established a 49-20 lead at half-time.
The Panthers led 66-32 after three quarters before MUW outscored GU with a narrow 17-16 advantage in the fourth quarter.
Reinneck paced the Panthers in rebounds with six, and Madelyn Stephen provided six assists. Greenville received a pair of steals from Stephen and Natalie Iberg.
The Panthers (6-2) will play at Centre on Monday after a weekend off.
