State Sen. Terri Bryant (R-Murphysboro) recently congratulated a Marine on his retirement from the U.S. Marine Corps after more than 35 years of service.

"Congratulations to SFC Collin Childers for 36+ years of service to our state and country. We are all grateful!" Bryant wrote in a Dec. 14 Facebook post.

The retirement ceremony for SFC Childers was held on Dec. 14 at Carbondale AFRC, in Murphysboro.

According to Childers' LinkedIn profile, he worked as an F-35C Maintenance Control Chief since October 2020. Before that, he worked as an Airframe Structural Mechanic since 2006.

In November's election, Bryant ran unopposed to keep her seat in the 58th District.
