City of Vienna City Council met Nov. 2.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

The City Council of the City of Vienna met in regular session at Vienna City Hall with the following members and guest:

ELECTED/APPOINTED OFFICIALS PRESENT:

Steve Penrod, Mayor Melissa Hill, Alderman Richard Owen, Alderman Ron Pitts, Alderman Angela Moore, Alderman Austin Tuey, Alderman Alan Racey, Alderman Aleatha Wright, Clerk Shane Racey, City Supt Brent Williams, Fire Chief

There being a quorum, Mayor Penrod called the meeting of the Vienna City Council to order at 6:30 p.m.

NEW BUSINESS

Alderman Moore made a motion to Authorize and Approve the Omnibus Consent Agenda consisting of the October 19, 2022 council meeting minutes and the Warrant ($13,500.09). Alderman Tuey seconded the motion. All in favor, motion carried.

Wright reviewed the proposed Cooperative Services Agreement for animal control submitted by Watson Kennels, LLC, to be renewed December 1, 2022. The agreement will be placed on the next agenda for action.

Alderman Pitts made a motion to Authorize and Approve a 4 page ad purchase in the 2023 Southern IL. Scout magazine, ($250.00 Tourism Funds). Alderman Racey seconded the motion. All in favor, motion carried.

Alderman Racey made a motion to Authorize and Approve General Funds for the purchase of $50.00 gift certificates from K.F Meats for Holiday Turkeys/Hams for city employees. Alderman Tuey seconded the motion. All in favor, motion carried

ELECTED/APPOINTED OFFICIALS

Wright reviewed the IMRF Employer Compliance report from a recent audit with council.

Fire Chief Williams informed council of an upcoming Illinois Fire Service Institute Training that one of the department members would be attending. Williams reported that he inquired of a 2008, F550/400-gallon tank, rescue truck in Jonesboro, IL for purchase. Williams said the Vienna Fire Department Auxiliary would contribute to the cost if the truck exceeds $50,000.00 the city had approved.

Alderman Moore and Tuey both commented on Trunk or Treat event. Wright read a thank you memo from Jeffrey Isbell, Shawnee Worship Center, thanking the city for their support with the event.

Alderman Tuey commented on the current city burn ban saying the ban needed to stay in place due to dry conditions and continued fire calls. Chief Williams was in agreement. Brief comments were made by council.

Alderman Racey commented on the upcoming 50/100 mile run event scheduled for Saturday, November 12th. Council members discussed details of directing parking into the city park before the race.

Depot Coordinator, Sowers said she was contacted by Shawnee Worship Center in regards to food vendors for the 50/100 mile run. There was a general consensus of the council to allow food vendor(s) considering their licensing was current.

Mayor Penrod commended efforts of the Vienna Fire Department and other surrounding departments that responded for mutual aid to the fire at J.W. Reynolds.

Penrod said a meeting with Dale Fowler to discuss funding options for the 146 East Vine utility relocation was rescheduled for November 9th. Penrod said IDOT would need to acquire right of way from the city for the installation of the roundabout.

Penrod mentioned to council that he was contacted by Vienna High School of applying for a grant through the city for two school resource officer police vehicles. Council had discussion and was in consent additional information was needed.

As there was no further business to discuss, Alderman Tuey made a motion to adjourn. Seconded by Alderman Racey. Mayor Penrod adjourned the meeting at 7:33 p.m.
