Alden-Hebron Community Consolidated Unit School District #19 Board of Education met Nov. 22.

President Norton called the meeting of the Board of Education of Alden-Hebron Community Consolidated Unit School District #19 to order at 7:00 p.m.
Roll Call
PRESENT: Mr. Norton, Mr. Winkelman, Mrs. Smith, Mr. Madsen, Mr. Eskridge, Mr. Berg, Mrs. Johnson
ABSENT: None
ALSO PRESENT:
Tiffany Elswick-Superintendent, Aaron Butler-MS/HS Principal, Katie Beck-SSC, Eric Slocum-ES Principal, Ray Stalker

PUBLIC COMMENTS
Mr. Stalker commended the BOE for their transparency and openness in their meetings
STAFF COMMENTS
Mrs. Elswick commended the District schools—the ES earned a rating of “Exemplary” and the MS/HS earned a rating of “Commendable” on the Illinois State Report Card.
BOARD COMMENTS
• Mrs. Johnson mentioned that Basketball season is starting
• Mr. Norton reminded everyone that the Booster Club Feather Party is on Saturday, November 12
FACILITIES UPDATE
Items discussed: Information and Outreach
• Mrs. Elswick thanked the BOE and the community for taking part in the honest and open communications during the Referendum process.
• Mrs. Johnson also thanked everyone for their sincere and earnest conversations and stated that the BOE will be canvassing again on Saturday November 5.
• Mr. Berg added that the canvassing was well-received the last time it was done. BOE members will pair up and canvas from 10:00am until 12:00pm. The main message will be to remind people of the upcoming election and urge them to get out and vote.
• Mrs. Johnson suggested the BOE reflect on the Community Engagement paperwork.
• Mr. Norton stated that the community engagement went well at the Parent/Teacher conferences.
• Mr. Berg commented that there were only about 12 people that showed up for the community event that was held on October 25, but there were many shares and views on Facebook.
• Mrs. Elswick stated that the District’s communication to the community is at an all-time high and the District needs to continue to keep it at this level.
• Mrs. Johnson suggested an Election Day watch gathering.
• If the referendum passes, Tammy Beckwith Schallmo of PMA and Wold and Gilbane will attend the next BOE meeting.
FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS
• HS students working in the Concession Stand
• Teacher Negotiations Committee Meeting needs to be set

• Mrs. Johnson stated that she is proud of the BOE’s efforts to be transparent and open
• Mr. Berg thanked the whole Core Team as well as the building administrators
• Mrs. Smith and Mr. Norton thanked the Core Team and the whole BOE
