The women's basketball team outscored Illinois College in the first three quarters and captured an 81-66 win on Wednesday night. It took a three-pointer at the buzzer from the Lady Blues to keep GU from holding an edge in each quarter. The Lady Blues clipped one point from Greenville's lead with a 23-22 advantage in the final stanza.
The Panthers received 17 points from Emily Reinneck to lead GU in scoring. She sank 6-of-9 field goal attempts, including a 4-of-6 mark behind the three-point line. She added even more value to the team with team-highs that included eight rebounds and five steals.
Madelyn Stephen was right behind with 16 points, and Abigail Reinneck provided 15 points.
Carolina Hoffman came in off the bench and provided 12 points.
The Panthers shot 42 percent from the field, making 29-of-69 shots, and 6-of-23 three-pointers. Greenville knocked down an incredible 85 percent of their free throw attempts, converting 17-of-20.
Greenville (4-0) will put their perfect record on the line Saturday with a 1 p.m. game at home against Aurora.
