Rep. Paul Jacobs (R-Carbondale) recently took to social media to share information about the Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs' 2022 Operation Rising Spirit campaign.

According to a Nov. 18 Facebook post, the campaign encourages individuals, schools, service organizations and communities to write letters of appreciation to veterans residing at state veterans’ homes in Anna, Chicago, LaSalle, Manteno and Quincy.

“To participate, notes may be sent directly to the Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs,” Jacobs wrote in the post, accompanied by a link to the IDVA programLetters will be disseminated equally to the five homes.

Letters should be sent to The Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs Central Office, 833 South Spring St. P.O. Box 19432 Springfield, IL 62794-9432.

Notes may also be sent directly through the IDVA website.

The IDVA website enables visitors to send a message to an individual or facility of their choice.

Jacobs recently shared his experience meeting the Tigerettes at the Black Diamond Harley dealership in Herrin. “Herrin Tigerettes giving back to the Community with hamburgers and hot dogs at Black Diamond Harley!” Jacobs wrote in an Oct. 31 Facebook post. “Fun with parents and young ladies from Herrin! Then also saw Black Diamond’s Museum! Great collection of collectible motorcycles!”

Jacobs, who resides in Pomona, was first elected to the Illinois House in 2020. His legislative experience includes serving on the Tourism, and Higher Education committees, according to the Illinois House.
