Lustig Earns Second PNC GLVC Men's Swimming and Diving Athlete of the Week This Season

McKendree University sophomore men's swimmer Jackson Lustig (Milwaukee, Wis./Pius XI) took home his second PNC Great Lakes Valley Conference Men's Swimming & Diving Athlete of the Week Award for the 2022-23 season by the league office on Tuesday afternoon.

Lustig earns his second PNC GLVC Men's Swimming and Diving Athlete of the Week accolade this season after winning a total of four events in McKendree's dual meets with No. 1 ranked Indianapolis and Truman State.

Against UIndy this past Friday, Lustig captured three event wins as he took home first place in the 100 butterfly (47.82), 200 butterfly (1:44.77) and 200 IM (1:53.04) and won first place in the 100 butterfly (49.68) this past Saturday at Truman State.

Lustig's three wins against UIndy helped lead the No. 2 ranked Bearcats to an impressive 151-145 home win over the top-ranked Greyhounds, before earning a 166-38 win over Truman State.

In addition to Lustig, Indianapolis' graduate student Kaitlyn McCoy took home the PNC GLVC Women's Swimming & Diving Athlete of the Week honor following her performances in UIndy's dual meet wins last week over McKendree (194-104) and Butler (143-84).

For the week, McCoy won three individual events as she took home first place in the 200 (1:52.97) and 500 (5:01.04) freestyle against McKendree and earned a win in the 400 IM (4:25.56) against Butler. In addition, she swam leadoff on the third-place 200 medley relay (26.95) and was the anchor leg on the 200 freestyle relay (23.26).

Lustig and the Bearcats return to the pool next week (Nov. 16-18) as they compete at the Mizzou Invitational in Columbia, Mo.
