Lucas Named GLVC Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week

For the second time in school history, the McKendree women's cross country team has a runner named as the Great Valley Conference Cross Country Runner of the Week as sophomore Reagan Lucas (Freeburg, Ill./Freeburg) was named this week's recipient of the award as announced by the league office on Wednesday afternoon.

Lucas is the second Bearcat women's runner to earn a Runner of the Week honor from the league as she joins her teammate, graduate student Kayla Tirey (Collinsville, Ill./Collinsville), who was honored last season on Sept. 28, 2021.

Lucas earns this week's Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week accolade after placing 117th overall at this past Friday's Bradley Pink Classic hosted by Bradley University. At the 6K race, Lucas recorded a time of 25:54.7 to be the top finisher for the Bearcats for the second consecutive meet.

At the meet that featured just two Division II schools among the field of 22 teams, the Bearcats finished 15th overall with a total of 556 points.

On the season, Lucas has been the top finisher for the Bearcats in its last two meets as along with being 117th at the Bradley Pink Classic, she posted a 22nd place at the Border War XC Championships on Oct. 7.

Lucas and the rest of the Bearcats will next be in action on Saturday, Nov. 5 as they compete in the 2022 Great Lakes Valley Conference Championships, which will be hosted by McKendree and held at the Principia North Farm XC Course in Elsah, Ill.
