INFORMATION/DISCUSSION

Crisis Plan

Superintendent Carey shared information on our critical drills. Each year the District hosts a meeting that includes building administrators and first responders to discuss the drills from the previous year. They also plan and schedule drills for the upcoming school year. Drill reports are sent to the DuPage ROE.

Football Conference

Westmont High School joined the Metropolitan Suburban Conference a few years ago, but now the conference is starting to change. Superintendent Carey discussed with the Board information regarding a new conference for football. The current conference is starting to disband because of disparities. Rainy Kaplan, WHS Athletic Director, has been working with other schools to put together a plan for a new conference. This new conference should be more competitive for our football players.

Enrollment

Superintendent Carey discussed the enrollment as of September 1, 2022 compared to June 2022 close of the school year.

Summer School Update

Superintendent Carey gave the Board an update on the summer school courses that were held at each of the schools. The elementary was by invitation only and the number of students attending was lower than in past years. The Board asked questions regarding the lower attendance rates. There are varying reasons for this, including covid fatigue and prior commitments. The high school offered credit recovery for students and 22 students attended.
