Anna Jonesboro Community High School District 81 Board of Education met Aug. 15.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

The Anna Jonesboro Community High School held its regular meeting on August 15, 2022, it was called to order by President Dr. Blakely. Upon roll call at 6:02 p.m. the following members were present: Dr. Blakely, Mr. McGrath, Mr. Bailey, Mr. Hughey, Dr. Reach, and Mrs. Thompson.

Dr. Blakely appointed Dr. Reach as acting Secretary.

On motion by Mrs. Thompson and seconded by Dr. Reach to approve the Agenda with the following changes: Change the order of the Agenda by moving Recognition of Visitors to after the Administrative Reports. All members present voting yes. Motion carried.

On motion by Dr. Reach and seconded by Dr. Blakely to approve the Consent Agenda which contained the following items: approval of board minutes on 7/18/22 and 7/20/22; approval of closed session minutes; approval of payment for bills, and acceptance of financial reports. On roll call, all members present voting yes. Motion carried.

Curriculum Director Finders spoke about the Illinois Virtual Instructional Coach and Building Mentor Program and Academic Intervention Survey Results.

Principal Detering spoke about new teacher orientation, teacher institute, and the 1st day of school.

Superintendent Wright spoke about summer projects and their completion, FY23 EBF calculations, and employee insurance.

Recognition of Visitors and Correspondence, Public Comments: Tim Denny

On motion by Mr. Hughey and seconded by Mr. McGrath for the Board to enter into closed session at 6:50 p.m. for the following reasons (1) the purpose of appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employee of the public body or legal counsel for the public body, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee of the public body or against legal counsel for the public to determine its validity. 5ILCS 120/2(c)(1) On roll call, all members present voting yes. Motion carried.

On motion by Mrs. Thompson and seconded by Mr. McGrath to return to regular session at 7:13 p.m. On roll call, all members present voting yes. Motion carried.

On motion by Mr. Hughey and Mr. McGrath to approve the tentative FY 2022-23 Budget. On roll call, all members present voting yes. Motion carried.

On motion by Dr. Reach and seconded by Dr. Blakely to set a date of September 19,2022 at 5:45 p.m. for the public hearing for adoption of FY 2022-23 Budget. All members present voting yes. Motion carried.

On motion by Mr. Bailey and seconded by Mrs. Thompson to approve the 2022-2023 Safe Return to In Person Instruction and Continuity of Service Plan. All members present voting yes. Motion carried.

On motion by Dr. Reach and seconded by Dr. Blakely to approve raising substitute pay to $110.00/day. On roll call, all members present voting yes. Motion carried.

Dr. Blakely appointed Mr. Bailey and Mrs. Thompson to serve on a newly created Facility Planning Committee.

On motion by Mr. Hughey and seconded by Dr. Reach to approve the following coaches pending background checks: Football: Gavin Osman-Volunteer, Boys Golf: Ayden Bailey-Volunteer, Girls Golf: Sydney Ralls-Volunteer. All members present voting yes. Motion carried.

On motion by Mr. Hughey and seconded by Mr. McGrath to adjourn the Regular Meeting at 7:46 p.m. On roll call, all members present voting yes. Motion carried.

Next regularly scheduled meeting is Monday, September 19, 2022 at 6:00 p.m. in the High School Library. The Budget Hearing will begin at 5:45 p.m.
