Massac Community Unified School District 1 Board of Education met June 13.

A Special Meeting of the Board of Education of Massac County Unit School District No. 1, Massac County, Illinois, was called to order in the Library of the Massac County Junior High School, located at 3028 Old Marion Rd, Metropolis, IL, in said District at 4:30 PM by Board President, Mr. Mark Souders.
Upon a roll call, the following members answered present:

Don Koch
Jennifer Larrison
Mark Souders
Bobette Steele
Also Present: Jason Hayes, Superintendent
Kristin Rousseau, Supt/Board Secretary
Absent: Bill Holt
Kathy Rushing
At 4:30 PM with a motion from Larrison and a second from Brugger, the Board voted to go to Closed Session to consider information relative to employment, appointment, or dismissal of specific employees or officers, collective negotiating matters between employers and their employees or representatives; to discuss litigation – probable, imminent, pending or file. Roll call: Brugger, Koch, Larrison, Souders, and Steele voted yes. Motion carried.
At 4:58 PM the Board returned to Open Session.

New Business:
With a motion from Brugger and a second from Koch the Board voted to Approve the renewal of the Catastrophic Accident Medical Insurance Program. Roll call: Brugger, Koch, Larrison, Souders, and Steele voted yes. Motion carried.
With a motion from Brugger and a second from Larrison the Board voted to Approve the relocation of the next regular board meeting on June 27, 2022 to the Massac Junior High School due to the construction project at Massac County High School. Roll call: Brugger, Koch, Larrison, Souders, and Steele voted yes. Motion carried.
With a motion from Brugger and a second from Steele the Board voted to Approve the resignations of Jackie Jacobs-Brookport Teacher Aide, Garrett Elders-Brookport Special Education Teacher, Ashley Hillebrand-MJHS Girls’ Soccer Coach, and Mackenzie Davis-MCHS English Teacher. Roll call: Brugger, Koch, Larrison, Souders, and Steele voted yes. Motion carried.
With a motion made by Brugger and seconded by Larrison the Board voted to Approve the retirements of Art Davis-MES Assistant Principal, Debbie Sharp-Unity 3rd Grade Teacher, and Angie Kennedy-Pre-K Secretary. Roll call: Brugger, Koch, Larrison, Souders, and Steele voted yes. Motion carried.
With a motion made by Koch and seconded by Steele the Board voted to Approve the hiring of Danielle Lewis as MCHS Special Education Aide. Roll call: Brugger, Koch, Larrison, Souders, and Steele voted yes. Motion carried.
With a motion made by Brugger and seconded by Larrison the Board voted to Approve the Leave of Absence of Holly Blankenbaker (January 17, 2023-May 12, 2023) Roll call: Brugger, Koch, Larrison, Souders, and Steele voted yes. Motion carried.
With a motion from Brugger and a second from Larrison the Board voted to adjourn at 5:03 PM. Roll call: Brugger, Koch, Larrison, Souders, and Steele voted yes. Motion carried.
